Justin Rose produced a masterclass at the Farmers Insurance Open over the weekend, securing a dominant seven-shot victory and etching his name into the history books at Torrey Pines.

The 45-year-old finished with a final-round 70 to reach a staggering 23-under par, breaking the tournament scoring record previously shared by Tiger Woods and George Burns. Rose’s performance was a rare wire-to-wire triumph—the first at this event since Tommy Bolt in 1955.

He set the tone early with a blistering 10-under-par 62 on the North Course and never looked back, extending his lead at the end of every round. Entering Sunday with a six-shot cushion, Rose remained unflappable despite the pressure of chasing history. He carded three birdies on a steady front nine to effectively end the contest before a peaceful walk to the 18th green.

It was Rose’s 13th victory on the PGA Tour and his second at this venue. His victory propelled him to number 3 in the world rankings, behind only Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.

Reflecting on his record-breaking week, Rose noted that the scoring record was his primary motivation during the closing holes. With this this clinical poise and execution, the 45-year-old proves he remains a formidable force in the modern game.

“I knew 23 under was a record. I’ve grown the lead each day so I wanted to finish seven ahead rather than six. I had my own little mini goals down the stretch which kept me focused, which was the key and I managed my game well.”
