A golf course that needs no introduction, TPC Sawgrass is treating us to the 51st Players Championship this weekend. Who'll be lifting the trophy this year?

Georgia native Harris English broke a 3-year drought in San Diego having finished on top of the leaderboard at the Farmers Insurance Open. The 33-year-old was last in the winner’s circle at the Travelers Championship back in 2021.
English exhibited an excellent opening round of four-under-par. The turbulent conditions all weekend kept the field from scoring low across the board, and after a lacklustre second round he secured a 66 to keep himself at the hot end of the leaderboard on 9-under-par.
The final day again proved a challenge for English, steadily making par on each of his final 12 holes for a 1-over-gross round. Fellow American Sam Stevens had a late surge on the final day but fell one-short of catching Harris English, who was deemed the tournament victor come the end of play.
English, who has represented Team USA and helped them win the 2021 Ryder Cup commented that he was ecstatic to have achieved his fifth PGA Tour win. “I might have looked calm out there on the course, but inside your emotions are going crazy. I just know how hard it is to win. It’s just so much fun. You’ve got to soak it in when you do it.”
His win this weekend saw English jump in the Official World Golf Rankings from 75th to 34th position. A notable climbing of the world leaderboard and one that English will welcome as he now qualifies to compete at this year’s Masters Championship in April. Each player who is in the world’s top 50 the week ahead of the tournament is invited to play at Augusta National the following week.
